At the heart of Beau Plan’s development lies a place that expresses creativity, craftsmanship and culture… to the rhythm of events, music and sports stages, and other workshops programmed throughout the year, as catalysts for sharing and social ties. Welcome to Creative Park!
For Benjamin Gilot, Cultural Project Manager, the place has been designed to welcome all desires, all backgrounds. “We want everyone to be able to walk through the doors of Creative Park and say ‘I belong here’, whether they want to learn, create, relax or just hang out.” And the unique setting – as inspiring as it is soothing – provides this foundation for creativity.
A large park planted with badamiers, mango trees and tropical vegetation stretches from the Musée de l’Aventure du Sucre, to the foot of the long building clad in colorful frescoes imbued with the soul of each Mauritian artist who has signed them.
Behind these facades, renowned professionals. Dancer and choreographer Cécile Gonzales teaches contemporary, modern and jazz dance, barre au sol, capoeira-fitness… at her school Le Studio. Gaëlle Gonzales presents her remarkable work in the art of printing (photographs, art reproductions, etc.) at her studio The Octopus. Patrick Mavros opens the doors to his world of fine jewelry, sculptures and other creations, reflecting a family know-how that is exported worldwide. Artists from the African Trader design and decoration boutique showcase the creative talents of Southern and East Africa…
Numerous vernissages and cultural exhibitions, concerts, festivals and film screenings follow one another in a convivial and inclusive atmosphere. “Creativity is a key part of Beau Plan’s positioning, and we want to bring it to life in a variety of ways, so that everyone can benefit from it. We’re convinced that when it’s shared, it can become a powerful collective driving force,” adds Benjamin, whose ambition is to offer Mauritians and visiting tourists alike new things to experience.
Creative Park workshops
From the end of April, Creative Park opens its doors to the general public, with a calendar of workshops to suit all tastes and needs, at affordable prices. School support for pupils aged 5 to 10, artistic awakening from an early age, physical and mental well-being, personal development… the rich program combining cultural activities and educational support is structured around two formats: permanent courses and one-off sessions. The former, accessible all year round, cover a wide range of disciplines: guitar, theater, painting, yoga, self-defense, etc. The latter, which will evolve over time, include introductions to pottery and art therapy, among others.
Multifunctional and accessible, a facilitator of exchanges, ideas and projects, Beau Plan’s Creative Park bears witness to a desire to celebrate creativity in all its forms, and to promote the most ambitious initiatives on a regional scale.
