One is from the coast est coast, the other from the ouest coast, but they have both share a taste for the sea and the blues, golden voices and a fine touch on guitar. In November, bluesmen Zulu and Éric Triton let out a heartfelt cry, in the single and video Blues nou losean. They return this month with a film and a first concert at the Astroea Hotel. Beach, at Pointe d’Esny, March 27. Dominique Bellier

Zulu and Éric Triton had too much in common not to meet. With this in mind, Stephan Rezannah brought themtogether for a residency at the Hotel Preskil last August. Between the lagoon and a room converted into a recording studio, they wrote, rewrote, played and married their voices, to perfect a passionate and sincere ode to the ocean and the people of the sea. Since November 7, their video clip has featured these artists with their feet in the water and their thoughts on the open sea, alongside wooden pirogues and fishermen.

The lyrics are simple, direct and unadorned, and the message is clear: blues noubann peser, ena bokou rekin pazist dan lamer, fer nou lagon vinn vivan, bizin pans pou noubann zenfanetc. Over a haunting ravanne rhythm, their singular voices rise from the depths of their guts to tease the clouds, relayed and magnified by the harmonica, Éric’s other voice…

From March 20, a 26-minute documentary directed by Jean-Paul Mussoodee will tell the story of this adventure in the artists’ own words… And for the public concert on March 27, the singers will blend their repertoires in a spirit of musical fraternity with the musicians Shakti Shane Ramchurn, Roberto Reine de Carthage and Philippe Thomas…
