Noémie Barragan began horse-riding at the age of three, a passion that would never leave her. A true animal lover, she decided to train in animal first aid (G7FFE). After numerous rescues, she created her first endemic and wildlife park with the support of the Evaco group. Her aim: to reconnect people with nature, but also with themselves. Located on the former Cap Malheureux soccer pitch, the Jardin Endémique et Animalier du Cap has a light, friendly air about it. Under the mischievous gaze of Sekhmet, a majestic dromedary, it’s a pleasure to stroll among the small endemic and common shrubs, freshly planted during gardening workshops with local children – the promise of sumptuous little pockets of greenery to come!
Like Sekhmet, her stall neighbors have been rescued by Noémie, and all of them have a touching story to tell, whether it’s Artémis the brown pig, Vinci the horse, or Atila the dog. Unwilling to put up with animal abuse, Noémie never hesitates to help the animals who cross her path, some of whom have taken up residence in the Jardin Endémique et Animalier du Cap, the park she opened at the end of 2024.
“There is a unique bond between animals, nature and human beings. That’s what our initiative is all about: rekindling this elementary connection”, she says. Open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Sunday, including public holidays, admission is free, and there are plenty of free activities for young and old to enjoy. “My aim is to ensure that adults and children continue to marvel, that they disconnect from everyday life and return, at least for the time of a visit, to what is most essential,” she concludes.
