Electricity on the upswing

Electric cars are no longer a gamble on the future, but a concrete response to environmental, economic and technological challenges. In Mauritius, ABC Motors has been leading the way since 2012. , with the launch of the Nissan Leaf, the first 100% electric vehicle to be introduced in the southern hemisphere. ZA

Since then, the number of electric vehicles on our roads has grown steadily. Unlike combustion-powered models, they run on a rechargeable battery. “Electric cars, like the Nissan Leaf, produce no CO₂ emissions, contributing to cleaner driving and reduced air pollution. The cost of recharging is significantly lower than that of a full tank of fuel, saving money on a daily basis,” explains Youshrina Mungur, Assistant Marketing Manager at ABC Motors.

Maintenance is also simplified, thanks to an electric motor with fewer mechanical parts subject to wear. “What’s more, their silent operation and smooth acceleration offer a pleasant driving experience. Finally, by choosing an electric vehicle, you are actively contributing to the energy transition and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.”

Based on this conviction, ABC Automobile is expanding its range with models such as the Porsche Taycan, the Porsche Macan Electric, the Chery EJ6 iCar, and the Leapmotor T03 and C10.

Specialized dealer teams have been set up to provide maintenance and technical support. Recharging is carried out at fully-equipped service stations or in places with electric charging stations, such as certain shopping centers, or even on the beach, as is the case under the filaos in Le Morne. For its part, ABC Motors and its subsidiary Clean Power Solutions offer to install charging stations at home or in the workplace.
