While the 2025 edition of Konpoz To Lamizik still holds many creative collaborations in store, it will above all be enriched by a number of new features, including support for artists at every stage and help with their professionalization, to help them master all the codes of the musical universe. For the first time, they will benefit from a tailor-made vocal coaching workshop, a stage workshop to prepare for the final (4/09), and technical support for their studio recordings. Much more than just a music contest, and beyond the human experience, this is a professional springboard for the candidates; a stage that can change their lives! Delphine Raimond

Created in 2018 by the Attitude hotel group (which was celebrating its tenth anniversary at the time) in collaboration with La Isla Social Club (founded by Victor Genestar), Konpoz to Lamizik (KTL) continues to celebrate Mauritian musical diversity, its talents, styles and identities… and advocates the emergence of a cultural economy! “We are convinced that an economy can only be truly prosperous if it is inclusive. This necessarily implies supporting all the creative sectors of our society, including our musicians and artists,” says Clémentine Katz, Attitude’s Chief Marketing Officer.

Since its launch, KTL has supported more than sixty artists, proving that sega, rap, Creole song, electro, jazz, lyrical music and many others can live side by side, intermingle or merge in a platform of encounters and surprises, exchanges and progress… Always a guarantor of enhanced stage visibility, in order to anchor the music of the finalists in the local cultural landscape, the event unfurls the stages of the Attitude group’s hotels, as well as those of partner festivals Dreamers and La Isla 2068.

The 2025 adventure will unfold in four stages:

Registrations online until June 30, 2025 https://konpoztolamizik.com/inscription-new/
Live auditions on August 16, in the presence of the jury, at the Café du Vieux Conseil in Port Louis
A scenic workshop on August 21, to prepare for the final
The final and prize-giving ceremony, on September 4, at the Café du Vieux Conseil in Port Louis

The jury

To accompany them through every stage, from the audition to the final on 4/09, including vocal and stage preparation… five jury members put their expertise and international experience at the service of the artists. The soprano Véronique Zuël-Bungaroo; the committed Emlyn Marimootoo, 2018 winner; Ashish Beesoondial, director of the Caudan Arts Centre and stage director, working to democratize access to the arts; Manu Desroches, who needs no introduction…; Ribongia (Antonio Rosselli Del Turco), Italian-Australian producer, master of the fusion of traditional African and Asian sounds with modern electronics.

The rewards

The overall winner will receive Rs 150,000 for a professional video clip of one of the tracks he or she has submitted to the competition. And while the top five will record their two tracks in the studio (auditions and final) and – new for 2025 – will have one of their tracks remixed by a Mauritian or Reunionese DJ, the ten finalists will leave with a video recording of their live performance at the grand final; a quality medium for promoting their artistic project.
