This month, Mauritian golf experienced one of the most memorable weeks in its sporting history. Between May 31 and June 6, 2026, the island not only hosted three international competitions simultaneously but also won two of them, marking an unprecedented achievement on the regional stage.
It all began at the Tamarina Golf Club, where the 2026 Inter-Island Team Championship was being held against teams from Réunion and the Seychelles. Buoyed by a strong team performance across the Professional/Amateur, Senior, and Women’s divisions, the Mauritian team—featuring Vishnoo Seeneevassen, Alban de Chalain, and Elise Tsang Man Kin, among others—clinched the title in style.
A few days later, from June 4 to 6, Mauritius faced five nations at the 2026 Africa Region IV Men’s Team Championship: Kenya, Seychelles, Réunion, Tanzania, and Burundi. After three days of high-level competition, the Mauritian quartet—composed of Ludovic Bax, Rakesh Channoo, Tanishq Nobeen, and Alban de Chalain—emerged victorious with a score of +1, relegating Kenya to second place (+32). A historic first regional title for the island! On the individual front, while the gold went to Seychellois player Adrian Andrade, Mauritius placed two players on the podium: Ludovic Bax (2nd) and Tanishq Nobeen (3rd).
These successes also highlight the Mauritius Golf Federation’s development strategy. The performances of Tanishq Nobeen, Gabriel Le Court, and Elise Tsang Man Kin—all members of Team MCB Junior Golf—confirm that investing in youth development is paying off. “These victories are the result of several years of hard work, patience, and perseverance,” emphasizes Shashi Goburdhone, Manager of the MGF, who has already announced the upcoming launch of the NextGen program to further strengthen the pool of Mauritian talent.
Alongside these two tournaments, Mauritius also hosted the 2026 Constance Mauritius Ladies Open, in collaboration with the Ladies Golf Union Mauritius. It was a week that definitively cemented the island’s status as the region’s premier golf destination!
