Beau Plan, August 21, 2026 – A new chapter is beginning in Mauritius’s oil industry. The Bhunjun Group officially unveiled “Fillin,” its new fuel retail brand, during an evening event held at L’Aventure du Sucre in Beau Plan. The event was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Navin Ramgoolam and numerous business leaders.
Fillin was formed following the acquisition of Engen Petroleum (Mauritius) Limited by Beta Oil Terminal Ltd, a subsidiary of the Bhunjun Group. This divestiture, required by the Competition Commission of Mauritius following Vivo Energy’s acquisition of Engen Limited in Africa in 2024, was the subject of an international bidding process won by Beta Oil Terminal over some twenty other bidders. The Bhunjun Group has thus become the first Mauritian conglomerate to own and operate a national fuel distribution network, comprising 37 gas stations and more than 250 employees.
The name Fillin, inspired by the Creole term for gas stations, is meant to be simple and approachable. Its visual identity combines petrol blue, yellow, and turquoise, symbolizing trust, hospitality, and a commitment to the country’s progress, under the tagline “Lesans nou pei.”
Beyond fuel, Fillin aims to transform its stations into true hubs of activity, incorporating dining, wellness, and convenient services. The group also plans to introduce solar-powered charging stations for electric vehicles, in anticipation of the energy transition.
In terms of infrastructure, Fillin will invest 1 billion rupees in the construction of five new storage tanks, increasing the nation’s storage capacity by one week. According to Kris Lutchmenarraidoo, director of Fillin Petroleum Ltd, the rebranding will take place gradually: eleven stations will adopt Fillin’s branding initially, before all 37 locations are fully rebranded by the end of November, with no interruption in service.
For Veekram Bhunjun, CEO of the Bhunjun Group, this project illustrates the belief that Mauritian entrepreneurship can compete with international standards: “Moris, se nou pei, se nou lakaz.” Fillin stations will open their doors on Saturday, August 22.
