Moris Orkestra’s festival

The 4e Moris Orkestra Academy is transformed into a festival this year. Co-founder William Ross, fellow Mauritian singer and percussionist Mathieu Michel, conductor Sébastien Taillard and composer Simon Barbanneau return to Mauritius with a core group of professional French musicians from April 20 to May 3. Together with the Mauritian musicians, some sixty of them will be working at their desks and rehearsing for two intense weeks, culminating in three major concerts at the Caudan Arts Centre on 1st2, and May 3, with guest artists for the Sega Sinfonik, like Kurty O’Clou and Billygane last year. On April 20 and 21, the “Penser/panser la musique” symposium will launch exchanges and reflections on the future of music, with a round-table discussion and mini-concert each evening. The compositions of two young Mauritian creators will be worked on and presented in concert, and the first orchestral conducting workshop will be launched. All the musicians will also be mobilizing to bring music to schools, associations and retirement homes…
