As a teacher of drama and English literature, Poonam Seetohul is no stranger to Shakespeare’s repertoire, for which she has, for example, led practice workshops aptly entitled “Shakespearience “… For this masterpiece by the playwright, she opted for a short 2h15 format, which led her to condense this text of over four hours, striving to respect the fundamental questioning and musicality of the language.
Our interviewee also took the liberty, in the spirit of clarification, of rewriting the gravedigger scene in Act V, to make it more punchy and emphasize its comic power, which could proverefreshingin this ensemble haunted by the idea of death and the intrigues of power, by love and the great existential questions…
