2017 was the year Rapha\u00eblle Lamusse embarked on her cycling adventure. “My goal was to adopt a healthy lifestyle and engage in regular sporting activity,” explains the 31-year-old. She was soon hooked. At the end of 2017, she took part in her first competition: The Colin Mayer Tour. “After that, I wanted to perfect my skills”. Her quest for excellence was launched. She trains relentlessly.<\/p>\n
A career in crescendo awaits her. In 2019, the cyclist represents Mauritius for the first time at the African Mountain Bike Championships. However, in July 2020, during a competition in Bras d’Eau, she suffered a heavy fall. Her collarbone fractured. “I had to stop for three months… The frustration of this sudden stop was palpable,” she confides. A few months later, Rapha\u00eblle Lamusse returned to her sport with redoubled determination. “I took a break from mountain biking to concentrate on the road. She went on to enjoy a series of extraordinary experiences, defying all challenges. “That’s what motivates me in life. The time-trial silver medallist at the 2022 African Championships is also manager of Synergy, a sports institute in Moka. She admits that juggling work and sport is difficult. “I couldn’t envisage vacations or travel outside cycling”.
\nThe champion takes a break. Disconnection is good for her. Important decisions followed. “Last year, I put an end to my competitive career after the Islands Games,” she concludes, but this year she’s taken it easy again. “The federation has asked me to represent the country this month at the African Games.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
