On September 7, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Steeven Obeegadoo, seven candidates (and their assistants), all devoted to gastronomy, competed at the Sir Ga\u00ebtan Duval Hotel School, before the jury of the coveted Bocuse d’Or competition – created in 1987 by the prestigious chef Paul Bocuse.<\/p>\n
The least we can say is that the examiners had a hard time deciding between the competitors, who were more determined than ever, working year-round in the kitchens of Mauritius’ top hotels! Emmanuelle Coquet, Promotion Director of the Mauritian Bocuse d’Or Academy, declared: “I’m blown away by the candidates’ commitment. They challenged themselves to give their best!” Because that’s what it’s all about… continuing to raise the culinary bar in Mauritius, and being its ambassadors to the world! The island, which joins the Bocuse d’Or family in October 2019, has nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to the creativity of its chefs! <\/p>\n
Patrick Travadi (C-Mauritius) and Vikram (Ashok) Bhaugeerutty (Sunlife<\/i> La Pirogue), finished second and third respectively, while alongside them were Geeran Jhummun (Constance Prince Maurice), Jean Paul Rene Orlando (Heritage Le Telfair Resort), Darsun Ramdoyal (LUX Grand Gaube) and Ram Appadoo (Heritage Le Ch\u00e2teau).<\/p>\n
