Celebrating the Year of the Wooden Snake <\/b>–<\/b><\/span> symbol of wisdom and renewal <\/b>–<\/b><\/span> the Liaoning ballet company invites the public <\/b>\u00e0<\/b><\/span> live for an hour <\/b>thirty<\/b><\/span> of grace and lightness, with 50 of the finest classical dancers from the Republic of China, <\/b>on stage at the Caudan Arts Centre.<\/b><\/span> Dominique Bellier<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Five years after presenting Mulan<\/i><\/span>inspired by the adventures of one of the most famous heroines of ancient Chinese literature, the Liaoning Ballet returns to present a show that showcases the breadth and diversity of their repertoire from February 21 to 24. Comprising the very best classical dancers, this troupe has become an ambassador for Chinese culture and know-how, performing on major international tours. <\/p>\n

Since their creation in 1980, these ballets have, in addition to Chinese masterpieces <\/span>, worked on some twenty Western classical pieces such as Swan Lake<\/i><\/span>and La Sylphide<\/i> <\/span>or Don Quixote<\/i><\/span>… For the Mauritian public, in a 1h30 performance, they will present the<\/span> nine most emblematic extracts from the different works in their repertoire, whether from the West or China. The must-see Swan Lake<\/i> <\/span>choreographed by Vladimir Malakhov, will open the show, followed on the Western side by Don Quixote<\/i><\/span>, Le Corsaire<\/i><\/span>Auber’s pas de deux and La Sylphide<\/i><\/span>before presenting three Chinese ballet anthologies: the Mulan<\/i><\/span> ‘s pas<\/span> de deux, with companion and accomplice Li Shuo, Jasmine Flowers<\/i> <\/span>for softness and delicate charm, and finally the pas de deux of Qixi<\/i><\/span>a great legend of Chinese love,<\/span> through the couple Niulang and Zhin\u00fc… To conclude, Skydance illustrates human creativity in adapting to the great upheavals of nature.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
