Founder of Flowers of Paradise (first in Pereybère, then in Mont Choisy), the man who, for almost twenty years, has demonstrated a business acumen and sense of success as sharp as his kitchen knives, opens the doors of his new opus (formerly Onya) on Royal Road in Pointe aux Canonniers. Delphine Raimond

Nature et Délices is an intimate setting, with a carefully-crafted seasonal menu. Four tables in the small garden, five under the varangue, five more in the cool cellar, brimming with quality wines from Rs 900. A maximum coefficient of two has always been applied by Christophe: “I want my customers to be able to enjoy themselves without being killed… because wines are expensive in Mauritius!”

At lunchtime, you can enjoy snacks, salads and simple, effective dishes at very reasonable prices. Cordon bleu, croque-monsieur, tuna (tartare or carpaccio), beef (carpaccio, filet or entrecôte) and a popular buffet of three wood-fired Creole curries, served with rice, grains, vegetables and chatini, for Rs 1300/person! In the evening, a more elaborate menu showcases the best of European produce, with 90% from France. Sole, scallops, foie-gras, frogs’ legs, sweetbreads, morels… you name it! “Here, the Mauritian expatriate eats something different, without being in a palace. I’m 40% more expensive than my colleagues, but still 60% cheaper than a luxury establishment!” As for the weekends, they are themed and have already offered – as much as you can eat – lobster (Rs 3000/p), mussels (Rs 1500/p) or Australian entrecôte (Rs 1500/p), accompanied by live music.
Parking will soon be made easier, and you will be able to enter through a small back garden scented with lemongrass and other herbs.

Nature et Délices, Tuesday to Sunday lunchtime.
Tel: 5974 2019
https://www.facebook.com/naturedelices#
https://www.nature-et-delices.mu/

Seasoned entrepreneur, qualified chef, attentive father… Christophe is a busy but serene man!
