Promoting local agriculture<\/b>, <\/b><\/span>sustainable<\/b> and <\/b><\/span>adopt an environmentally-friendly lifestyle<\/b>,<\/b><\/span> these are the foundations of the tropical agrihood imagined by CIEL Properties at <\/b>Ferney. <\/b><\/span>This project <\/b>– <\/b><\/span>a first in Mauritius<\/b> – <\/b><\/span>proposes a development model that places people, the earth and biodiversity at the heart of a new art of living.<\/b><\/p>\n

This concept encourages exchanges between farmers and local residents, promotes short circuits and is in line with a logic of reasoned development. On an estate of over 3100 hectares, only <\/span>474 hectares of former land under cane have been developed. The project, like all Ferney initiatives, consolidates the<\/span> continuity of its commitment to conservation and maintaining the balance between humans and their <\/span>natural environment. Over 100 <\/span>hectares are<\/span> already protected in the nearby Vall\u00e9e de Ferney –<\/span> a sanctuarymaintained<\/span>for over 15 years by the Ferney Conservation Trust.<\/p>\n

Farm Living: farming differently<\/b><\/p>\n

As <\/span>one of the first components of tropical agrihood, Farm Living offers Mauritians and foreigners the opportunity to acquire a plot of 1 to 3 acres dedicated to <\/span>cultivation, and to build a bioclimatic house on it <\/span>. Of the project’s 189 acres, over 70% will be cultivated, 22% reforested and 8% allocated to infrastructure. More than a residential program <\/span>, Farm Living draws on the experience of the Ferney Agri-Hub, which since 2020 has federated <\/span>a community of entrepreneurs<\/span> committed to responsible agriculture. <\/p>\n

Three pillars for a green future<\/b><\/p>\n

Sustainable agriculture, ecotourism<\/span> and the creation of a destination: these are the three pillars that will guide Ferney’s development in the years to come. The success of initiatives such as Ferney Falaise Rouge (catering, leisure activities) and Ferney Nature Lodge (accommodation in the heart of nature) testifies to the growing interest in an immersive experience, between sea and mountains. Through Tropical Agrihood<\/span>, Ferney is opening up to a new form of tourism: more responsible, more grounded, more conscious..<\/span>. A tourism that enhances the environmental<\/span> and historical heritage of an emblematic region of Mauritius.<\/span> <\/p>\n

A commitment to future generations<\/b><\/p>\n

Ferney doesn’t just preserve the ecosystem; it takes action! <\/span>Since 2007<\/span>, over 35,000 <\/span>endemic trees have been planted in the Ferney Valley. Endangered bird species have been reintroduced, and strong collaborations have been forged with the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation and public institutions. This same spirit of responsibility also guides the project’s social commitments. In conjunction with local NGOs, actions are taken to promote inclusion, support the surrounding communities and encourage<\/span> solidarity-based practices. In 2024, funds raised during the CIEL Ferney Trail financed a <\/span>jo\u00eblette, an adapted all-terrain wheelchair, enabling<\/span> children with disabilities to<\/span> take part in this legendary race. <\/p>\n
