The Samudra Art Prize, in partnership with the Mauritian NGO Reef Conservation, is launching an original and committed competition: “Draw me a river”. It’s a creative invitation to the island’s talented young people to use art as a tool for raising awareness of nature. <\/b><\/p>\n

The competition is open to all children aged 8 to 14 living in Mauritius. Pencil, paint, pastel, felt-tip, wax, pen… all techniques are welcome! All you have to do is let your imagination run wild and draw a river. The parent or guardian then sends a photo of the work, along with the child’s name and age, to the following address samudraartprize@gmail.com<\/b><\/span><\/a>. Deadline: May 3, 2026 at midnight, Mauritius time. <\/p>\n

Two winners will be chosen – one for each age category (8-10 and 11-14). In addition to goodies donated by Reef Conservation, their creations will be exhibited at the Caudan Arts Centre as part of the WATER!<\/i> exhibition, alongside the Samudra Art Prize 2026 artists. A great opportunity for young creatives to express themselves in a professional setting! <\/p>\n

Why rivers? In Mauritius, rivers are much more than just watercourses: they nurture biodiversity, feed the water table and link the land to the sea. Yet pollution, urbanization and climate change are making them dangerously fragile, with direct repercussions for coral reefs and lagoons. “Raising awareness at an early age is the first step towards protection,” sums up Caroline Lecl\u00e9zio, founder of the Samudra Art Prize. <\/p>\n
