His journey through time is facilitated by the man from beyond, Philippe Houbert, known until now for more… earthly roles. The comedy Si on savait… (If we knew…) raises existential questions in short bursts, without taking itself too seriously. Its author, Éric Fraticelli, offers an amusing look back at his character’s life.

Director Daniel Mourgues and actor Philippe Houbert found the originality and quality they were looking for in their latest Mauritian show. “The charm of this play also lies in the touching messages it delivers here and there, about life.” Julie Tyack plays the wife and Christophe St Lambert the son. The audience will discover Élodie Jacobée as the zany mistress. And the theater team has concocted a system of modules on wheels and panels for the three sets, otherwise presented on a revolving stage.

Since 2014, Daniel Mourgues and Philippe Houbert have staged a dozen comedies, living out their Mauritian sojourns to the rhythm of rehearsals, in search of precise acting and respect for the text. Before that, Philippe remembers shows at La Citadelle such as Il était une fois 1000 et une fées… From now on, the couple will move to the auditorium side, to revel as avid and well-informed spectators in the new faces of Mauritian theater.

“You’re dead!” Imagine hearing this news, waking up in an unfamiliar space.
