She insists: “Our ambition is clear: to change attitudes and make palliative medicine accessible to all.”

The first edition set the tone, with over 1,500 visitors and workshops for children, teenagers and caregivers. For Dr Anne-Sophie Jérôme, “this Caravan is much more than a simple event: it’s a real human commitment. Even when recovery is no longer possible, medicine doesn’t stop.

Building on this momentum, the next edition promises to be a rich and accessible day for all. Interactive workshops, discussions with healthcare professionals, mini-consultations and the screening of the film Vivants will punctuate the day. Spaces dedicated to children and young people will also provide an opportunity to discuss the emotions associated with the disease, using appropriate approaches. The Caravan will make a stopover on Saturday May 16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Saint-François-d’Assise church in Pamplemousses. Admission is free – an invitation to better understand a medicine that “takes care, right to the end”!

The Caravan is a forum for encounters and dialogue, and its aim is to lift the veil on a form of medicine that is still little-known in Mauritius.
