<\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b>The Kontanporin exhibition returns from September 24 to October 14, featuring some of the artists who launched the concept three years ago, <\/b>along with <\/b><\/span>works by the late Ismet Ganti, the creator of this annual event alongside Rishi Seerruttun.<\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b><\/b> <\/b>Among the six newcomers to the 2026 edition, two young women stand out as rising stars\u2026<\/b> Dominique Bellier<\/em><\/p>\n

Kontanporin 26 is showcasing,<\/span> among its thirteen established artists*, two young artists with striking work at the Caudan Arts Center :<\/span> materials specialist Laetitia McVeay and multimedia artivist Audrey Holland-Albert. The cause championed by Chagossian artists, along with their history and cultural identity, inspire a unique aesthetic and thought-provoking reflections. Audrey Holland-Albert<\/span>has been at the forefront of this movement from Manchester, where she lives. This exhibition in Mauritius allows her to present a new phase of her video installation *Sea Walkers<\/i>*. <\/p>\n

As part of her collaborative art practice, she invited her Chagossian grandparents to comment on film clips from their former homeland, selected from the British colonial archives of the 1940s. These are complemented by a few portraits of young people from that era, reproduced in postcard format\u2026 This piece is part of the solo show *Belongers*<\/i>, which has toured the United Kingdom\u2014including a stop at the Imperial War Museum last year\u2014as well as Puerto Rico as part of the traveling exhibition *Sunlight on the <\/i>S<\/i><\/span>sea <\/i>F<\/i><\/span>loor<\/i>, in collaboration with a Chagossian collective. <\/p>\n

The group\u2019s chemist, Laetitia McVeay, presents the installation <\/span>Polymorphe<\/i><\/span>, which brings together a selection of sculptures and paintings representative of her work, alongside a research table demonstrating how she creates materials, media, and colors with a low environmental impact. Drawing visual inspiration from nature and reinventing art without chemicals or nanoplastics are <\/span>the driving forces behind what she defines as \u201corganic abstract expression\u201d\u2026 <\/p>\n
