Named “2026 Car of the Year,” the new electric CLA made a splash at Pailles. With a range of up to 792 km, an 800-volt architecture, and a starting price of Rs 3.79 million, the brand with the star logo is betting big on electric vehicles while celebrating its 140-year history.
It was at the Mercedes-Benz showroom in Pailles that the German automaker unveiled its all-new, 100% electric CLA during a private event reserved for invited guests. With this launch, one of the most recognizable models in the lineup is entering a whole new era: it retains the same four-door coupe silhouette and the same sharp lines, but now has a 100% electric powertrain. This transformation has been hailed internationally, as the new CLA has just been named “2026 Car of the Year.”
In Mauritius, three versions are available at launch. The CLA 200 BEV starts at Rs 3,790,000 in the Progressive Plus trim and at Rs 3,990,000 in the AMG Sport trim. The more powerful CLA 250 BEV is priced at Rs 4,490,000. However, these special prices apply only to the first ten units sold, which is sure to generate excitement among fans of the brand.
In terms of performance, the CLA 200 delivers 165 kW and has a range of 530 km, while the CLA 250 breaks new ground with 200 kW, an 800-volt architecture, and a claimed range of up to 792 km on the WLTP cycle. Inside, the MBUX multimedia system, the 14-inch central display, and wireless charging position the vehicle as a true connected extension of everyday life.
This launch comes at just the right time: Mercedes-Benz is celebrating its 140th anniversary this year, marking the patent filed by Carl Benz in 1886. Rather than simply paying homage to the past, the brand is taking this opportunity to announce its most extensive vehicle launch program to date, with more than 40 new models expected over the next two years. The new all-electric CLA is the first example of this in Mauritius: zero emissions, cutting-edge technology, and a century-old legacy that continues to drive toward the future!
