Lyric singer Caroline Villain has been performing in Mauritius for the past six years, an activity that began in the difficult context of Covid, but has taken off in recent years. An enthusiast of baroque music, this mezzo-soprano is so open-minded that she interprets both romantic and popular songs… In another register, she even performs with Nina Hellis, on April 18, at Ravenala Attitude! Dominique Bellier

Caroline Villain, Nina Hellis and the team at La Isla Social Club have put together a special evening of music to mark the launch of the French Touch platform on April 18. They’ll be covering the great hits of this founding electro movement, from Modjo to Daft Punk, in a pop version for voice and piano… This exceptional evening will celebrate the 10th anniversary of La Isla Social Club.

This performance is not a trial run for the mezzo-soprano, who has signed collaborations with Sébastien Tellier, Turzi and Alexandre Chatelard… Of French origin, this new voice from Maurice has adapted to the repertoire of her adopted country, detaching herself, at least in her public performances, from her original training and her infinite passion for Baroque and early music.

On April 25, at Tamarin’s Saint-Augustin church, Caroline Villain returns in duo with Anne Chauveau-Dhayan on cello, to present Au fil des rêves… in aid of Caritas. This recital features both Monteverdi (Si dolce el tormento) by Pino Daniele, ” La Paloma the 2e Suite from Bach, Landi, Frescobaldi or some Sicilian lullabies…

On May 7, she presents Un soir au clair de lune again , with Nouchine Schopfer on the Château de Labourdonnais piano (French and Spanish melodies, Lieder by Schuman and Brahms). And for May 24, she is preparing a duo performance at Jin Fei, with Steed Lebon’s Vivaldi Talents school…
