Music platform La Isla Social Club is stepping up its activities this year after a a decade of loyal service, which has delighted music and dance lovers in Mauritius and La Meeting. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the team has put together a series of not-to-be-missed events. Dominique Bellier

Since its very first event 10 years ago with Polo & Pan, La Isla has overcome many obstacles. “Despite Covid, administrative bans and the absence of a cultural policy, we have succeeded in becoming a benchmark springboard for talent from the sister islands. La Isla has thus accompanied the rise of the Mauritian New Wave. Today, our strength lies in our audience, a mosaic of people from all walks of life who share a passion for music and discovery,” explains festival founder Victor Genestar.

La Isla has 3 million views on its Youtube channel, 100,000 fans on social networks and some 33 events supported by its historic partners (Attitude, Oxenham and Omnibox). On April 18, to launch the French Touch platform, the Ravenala Attitude will welcome the two great icons of this movement, Demon and Jef K, accompanied by our headliners with original performances: Nina Hellis and Caroline Villain, Marie and Dylan Sendeck, and Mono and Ashlyn, with a new DJ set.

These are just some of the hundred or so talents that La Isla has brought to light, to fuel the creation of the La Isla Talents agency… The website will be repositioned as the reference media for the region, and a 22e edition of Dreamers at La Piazza in Moka, on May 29, and a two-day program for the 8e edition of La Isla 2068, in October, at Château de Labourdonnais.
