On June 5, 2026, SICOM celebrated World Environment Day, whose theme this year was “Inspired by nature. For the climate. For our future.” The call to action: rethink our economic systems and promote collective action. This is a philosophy shared by SICOM, which organized a special day to promote more sustainable lifestyles.

Open to Group employees as well as the general public, this special day focused on the environment featured a variety of wonderful activities and initiatives. Among them was an exhibition and sale of fruits and vegetables grown using sustainable agricultural practices, organized in partnership with the network of small-scale farmers from the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (FAREI). The goal was to encourage healthy and eco-friendly eating habits while promoting short supply chains and the already diverse range of local produce.

At the same time, numerous workshops were organized, such as the one on rooftop gardening led by FAREI to help Group employees learn about rooftop gardening techniques and their benefits—expertise that had already been put to use in creating a vegetable garden on the roof of SICOM’s headquarters. Finally, an interactive session led by Mission Verte, one of the Group’s partners, also addressed the impacts of pollution, overconsumption, and the saturation of the Mare Chicose landfill, as well as concrete solutions and everyday actions people can take to make a difference.

An event that truly embodies SICOM’s commitment to creating a resilient and sustainable system!
