Two days, a new venue, and an XXL lineup: for its 8th edition, LA ISLA 2068 is thinking big! The La Isla Social Club festival will take over La Piazza in Moka on October 9 and 10, with the goal of bringing generations together around the latest musical trends and showcasing talent from the Indian Ocean.
LA ISLA 2068 is kicking it up a notch! After seven editions held as one-day events, this year the music festival is taking place in the heart of the island and will run for two days. The festivities will kick off on Friday, October 9, from 5 p.m. to midnight, before continuing on Saturday, October 10, from noon to midnight, between the Piazza at Vivéa Business Park and the ruins of the Mon Désert Alma factory. With 23 live performances and 11 international headliners, the festival has never featured such an ambitious lineup. From electronic music to maloya, from pop to sega, this edition aims to offer a wealth of new discoveries and bring together diverse musical scenes.
Among the announced artists: British electronic music pioneer Nathan Fake, DJ Sebb from Réunion, French producer Mad Rey, the Mauritian group Cassiya, as well as GЯEG, Encoder Experiment, Nagaï, and Sueilo. But beyond the lineup, LA ISLA 2068 has a cultural mission. Launched ten years ago as a media outlet dedicated to showcasing the island’s artists and heritage, La Isla Social Club has since organized some fifty events and introduced more than a hundred artists to the public.
With this new venue, a whole new perspective is opening up… “It’s a huge challenge in line with our goals: to serve as a showcase for Mauritian culture and a driving force for high-quality cultural tourism on the island,” emphasizes Victor Genestar, founder of La Isla Social Club, who sees this new format as a way to further expand the festival’s diversity.
